Šapat Wine Atelier at the “Wine Vision by Open Balkan” Fair

The premiere of “Trofej” marked this year’s appearance

Šapat Wine Atelier was once again a proud partner of one of Europe’s four most significant wine events – the “Wine Vision by Open Balkan” fair, held in Belgrade from 22 to 25 November 2025. Throughout all four days, the Šapat stand served as a meeting point for numerous visitors, dedicated wine enthusiasts and long-standing friends of winemaking. With them, we shared flavours, experiences and a mutual passion for premium wine. At the same time, the fair provided a valuable opportunity to meet new collaborators and customers, opening the door to future partnerships.

In addition to our standard wines, we presented Šapat’s first sparkling wine – “Trofej” – for the very first time. This elegant, lavish sparkling wine represents a harmonious union of Fruška Gora’s nature and the dedicated work of our winemakers, led by enologist Mladen Dragojlović.

“This wine is adorned with a light-yellow colour and distinguished by a full, slightly creamy taste. Its pearls are small and persistent. Dominant aromas of apple and pear prevail, complemented by a hint of pineapple, as well as toasted hazelnut and brioche. The sparkling wine is balanced and elegant, characterized by freshness and minerality,” Dragojlović noted during the media presentation.

The new sparkling wine is produced using the traditional champagne method and contains 12 percent alcohol. Its base is pure Chardonnay, aged for six months in amphorae, followed by a brief maturation in barrique barrels. During secondary fermentation, it spent an additional two years ageing on yeast lees in the bottle. Though the process is long and demanding, it delivers results that reward patience—and our new sparkling wine stands as a testament to effort, dedication and a firm belief in quality.

According to Mladen Ćirić, the general director of our winery, “Wine Vision” has, in just four years, succeeded in positioning itself among the four most important wine fairs in Europe.

“For the fourth consecutive year, this event has brought together distributors, buyers and sommeliers from around the world. Šapat Wine Atelier stands firmly behind this manifestation; in addition to presenting ourselves as exhibitors, we have also been partners of the fair for the past three years. For us, this is an opportunity to strengthen international contacts, introduce our wines to foreign visitors and expand into new markets. We held a significant number of important business meetings and look forward to new contracts that will further elevate the reputation of Serbian wines worldwide,” Ćirić emphasized.

This year, “Wine Vision by Open Balkan” gathered around 600 exhibitors from 34 countries in the halls of the Belgrade Fair. Over the course of four days, more than 30 workshops and masterclasses were organized, accompanied by numerous educational sessions and panel discussions, as well as more than 1,500 business meetings arranged through the B2B platform, which enables direct connections between producers and global markets. The fair also featured the “Open Balkan Wine Trophy” awards, where 24 international judges selected the best wines from Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania.
